Over the last few years the club
has completed many “hands
on” projects including:
- Building a bird watching
hide for the public at Quarry Moor
- Seating at Quarry
Moor Nature Reserve
- Distributing food parcels to the
poor
- Annually, around Christmas, planting and distributing
bowls of Hyacinths to the elderly
- Completing a total ‘Environmental
Survey’ of
the City of Ripon, so that relevant authorities could
rectify problem areas. (The survey looked at things like
- bad
footpaths, overgrown hedges and dangerous obstructions
etc.)
- Creating an ‘Aromatic Garden’ for
the Blind at Allhallows Park
- Providing and installing
an access ramp and security lighting for the Salvation
Army Outreach centre
- Transporting the elderly to the Salvation
Army Christmas lunch
- Cleaning out the River Skell at Alma
Ford
- Hosting children from abroad during ‘Tours
of Yorkshire’
- Recreating the Ripon Maze in the
Spa Park
- Doing gardening for the infirmed
- Supporting Ripon Children’s
Sports day annually
- Collecting and sending second hand
tools to Third World Countries
- Organising and promoting ‘Crimestoppers’ in
Ripon
- Filling ‘Aqua-boxes’ and ‘Emergency
Boxes’ to
store and send abroad following any disaster
- Promoting
a ‘drug awareness’ programme
for junior schools in the locality
- Helping
with the planting of daffodil bulbs on
the Canal side and on the Ripon
By-Pass
- Organising, annually, a ‘Stroke
Awareness Day’ in
Ripon Market Place
- Helping, annually,
at ‘Ripon Day’ at Ripon
Racecourse
- Together with the ‘Lions’,
taking ‘Santa
Claus’ and his ‘Sleigh’ round
the streets of Ripon in the weeks leading
up to Christmas
- Repainting work at the
Ripon Prison & Police Museum
for the Museum Trust
